FOCUS ON FUEL EFFICIENCY WITH THE NEW 'CURVE' LUTON

After 12 months of research and development our new Curve luton has arrived. The new design is aimed at improving fuel efficiency and further improving the aesthetic appearance of our standard luton. The body can be constructed using the latest lightweight materials giving payloads of up to 1100kgs inclusive of a full tank of fuel and a driver.

Independent fuel trials have been carried out by Mercedes-Benz showing a 5-7% improvement in fuel efficiency at speeds between 50-65Mph. With ever increasing fuel prices this could represent a considerable saving for operators.

9 x Lightweight Curve luton bodies have just been supplied to Leeds and Sheffield based courier Professional Response Ltd to work on a contract for a major high street retailer. With fuel efficiency and payload high priority the new Curve was an ideal choice.

Shaun Beresford – Project Manager commented "Our client was prepared to put considerable investment in changing our current fleet of vehicles earlier than planned, this was in order to gain a 25% increase in payload to meet their demand."

"Working with Alloy Bodies on our custom built requirements we have achieved this and more, in a very short time frame. Although we have changed chassis from VW to Mercedes, with the new Curve Luton fuel efficiency has increased from 20mpg to between 25-28mpg which is critical with todays increasing fuel prices. Both Professional Response and our client are delighted with the quality and look of the new Curve Lutons, Alloy Bodies took just 5 weeks to complete, from the initial enquiry being made to delivery of the new fleet!"

Worcestershire based shipping and transportation company, Simon Hall Ltd have also taken delivery of a new lightweight Curve luton fitted with flush rear doors and full height tie rails inside.
