Column Lifts

Column lifts are one of the most popular types of tail lift. They offer a simple, robust operation and are suitable for high-frequency use, ensuring stability and ease of maintenance.

Their name refers to the vertical columns that the tail lift operates up and down within and the cycle time of a column lift helps with multi drop type operations.

Tuckaway Lifts

The compact tail lift to allow dock loading and easy access.

Tuckaway or Tuckunder tail lifts as their name suggests means they fold away under the rear of the body. This allows access to the rear of the body if the tail lift is not actually needed like when manually loading or fork loading the vehicle. These chassis mounted compact lifts are only suited to truck chassis and required ground clearance to fold under the body which can also limit the available platform size.

Cantilever Lifts

Ideal solution for large, heavy and bulky loads.

Cantilever tail lifts provide an ideal lifting solution when the load is large and potentially heavy. They provide the largest platforms often with a flat area and auto tilt to allow simplest of loading.

Retractable Slider Lifts

Ideal for heavy truck where dock loading and rear fork truck access is required.

Retractable or Slider lifts are a safer and more versatile version of a tuckaway lift. Whilst the platform still folds it slides under the chassis allows larger and level platform much more suited to cage or wheeled deliveries.

These lifts are also far more common on articulated trailers as well as heavy truck. The chassis mounted and compact design means dock loading and rear fork truck access is still possible.

Full Closure Colum Lifts

Maximum aperture and no need for a shutter.

Full closure column tail lifts have greatly increased in popularity in the last decade. Providing both tail lift and rear closure in one, they remove the need for a shutter and offer increased security and load containment. There are currently two manufacturers offering this type of lift in the UK, DEL with their FC500 and Dhollandia with their VOCS range.
